The thermoplastic elastomer has a notch on one side of the test piece as an extension point for tearing. The material tested by the thermoplastic elastomer was stretched until it completely torn, and the force required to tear the test piece was also measured. Its unit is usually pounds per inch (pli) or kilonewtons per meter (kN/m). This test value shows the elastomer's resistance to tearing.
Problems with TPE and TPR:

The type of rubber substrate, the proportion of plastic, and the content of oil all affect the tear strength of the compounded material.
2. Degradation of TPE, TPR materials or performance degradation after multiple uses
The higher the molding temperature, the greater the number of processing times, and the physical properties of materials including tear strength.
3. Stress defects
Products have sharp inner edges or corners, there is a stress gap, easily lead to stress concentration. When an external tensile tear is encountered, the product tear starts from these positions.
TPE, TPR Improvement Suggestions:
For the material compounding system, the following recommendations are made:
1, choose high molecular weight, star structure SEBS substrate;
2. Properly increase the proportion of plastic components (such as PP, PS, LLDPE) if the physical properties of the material permit;
3, on the premise of ensuring physical properties, appropriately reduce the amount of oil added;
